About the Author:
Ruchi Singh is a novelist in ‘romance’ and ‘romantic thriller’ genres. She has a degree in Engineering and has been working in IT industry as a Quality Consultant. She began her writing career writing short stories and articles, which have been published on various online forums. Her story ‘Boomerang’ in crime genre, won the Indireads Short Story competition in 2014, and is part of the Anthology ‘Voices Old & New‘. Another of her short stories ‘Debt of Kheer’ is part of Author’s Ink anthology ‘The Turning Point of Life‘, both available on Amazon.

It was my complete pleasure to host a round of Questions and Answers with the Author. A big thanks to her for giving me the privilege to interview..
1. Before we begin the round of asking and replying, could you enlighten us a little about your book 'Take 2’.
Ruchi Singh: Thank you Santosh for hosting me on your blog. There are two main themes which I wanted to highlight in Take 2, firstly the plight of women who were divorced or thinking of divorce, and secondly the co-existence of conservative and modern India.
Take 2 is about Priya, who is a small town, intelligent girl, for whom ethics and family values hold an important place in life. The story revolves around her struggle to carve a life for herself braving the conservative society and realizing that the choice to be happy remains with her.
Abhimanyu’s character was conceived to compliment Priya. He is far more mature than his age. If you are in love with someone you have to nurture it by showing support, care and affection. And that is what Abhimanyu does for Priya. I have tried to bring out that sentiment in the story along with some drama to entertain the readers.
And since I am an eternally optimistic person and all my stories would have HEA. I also admit to bringing a bit of Bollywood to make it a light read.
2. It may sound personal but does the book is a pure work of fiction or it has something to do with real characters??
Ruchi Singh: Its a pure work of fiction. None of the characters are real.
3. Is there any specific book or incident that inspired you to write Take 2??
Ruchi Singh: Not a specific incident but yes, predicament of my colleagues, friends who have been in an abusive relationship, inspired me to write this story.
Though in Take 2 Sameer turned out to be an out and out villain, in real life it doesn’t always happen like that. The partners are weak, they apologise and everything is hunky dory for a while, then the abuse-cycle starts again. It was frustrating to see my friends cry, and unable to end the relationship just because of emotional ties.
4. How does it really feel to be an author ?? Please do tell us a little about -pre and post author life..
Ruchi Singh: I had been working in IT sector prior to writing fiction. Earlier, I had been writing non-fiction bound by demands of work, had a boss and was getting paid handsomely :-) Now I am writing as per my fancy, readers are my boss and my finances are in red. But now I am enjoying a lot.
5. Sorry for asking this but have you ever been rejected for your work (book) before ??
Ruchi Singh: Oh, yes. No need to be sorry. I have been rejected from about 10 publishing entities, agents, editors put together. Then I lost patience of waiting and self-published. It has been a very enlightening journey :-)
6. Tell us something that we don't know about 'Ruchi Singh’.
Ruchi Singh: I hate talking and marketing my work.
7. Can we expect another book from your pen in near future??
Ruchi Singh: Definitely, while ‘Take 2’ is a contemporary romance with a spice of social drama, the next one is a romantic thriller. I have written another intense-romance novel during NaNo Wrimo 2014, which I would edit after the second one.
I might write a literary piece one day, there are lots of ideas floating in my mind.
8. Before ending this, I would request you to give some advice to the aspiring writers who want to be an author…
Ruchi Singh: This would be a cliched answer, but still:
• Read ‘On Writing: A Memoir Of The Craft’ by Stephen King and follow it.
• Buy a good editing tool and use it
• Write, write, write and edit, edit, edit…

My Review:
Whenever I see a book of Love genre, I don't waste my time thinking whether to pick it or not. I start reading it. After completing the book, if I love the story, I praise about it open heartedly and if the story isn't upto the standards, I don't stop criticizing it. Well, this book, 'Take 2: Second Chance at Happiness falls in the former category. I enjoyed the story, fell in love with the protagonist, hated the antagonist and spent my time among the characters.
The story is basically about a girl, Priya. Her life goes upside down, when one morning her husband calls her up and says he don't want to continue their marriage life and wants a divorce. She was in a shock after hearing those words. She wanted to win him back, she decided that she will get her husband back into her life.
Honestly the story wasn't any interesting until the entry of Abhimanyu (Priya's friend's brother). But when Abhimanyu entered Priya's life, the story made me get goosebumps. The character is a perfectionist. He knows what he was doing. He tried to help Priya to move on with her life. He almost did everything to make Priya smile.
Was he helping Priya because he considered her just as a friend or did he fell in love with her ?? Will Priya move on with her life, will she start her life with a new chapter ?? Well to know the complete story you need to read the book.

Likings: Simple yet beautifully written, Fictional character but it makes you feel as if they are real, Gripping story and can be finished in one go, doesn't make you feel bore.
Disliking: I have read more than hundred of love books and this story isn't any different.
My Rating: 4/5 (If you like reading love stories then you must pick this book, no second thoughts)
