Beautiful India: A Myth

"Girls are as beautiful as flowers,
they need to be nurtured and cared or else they will start fading their beauty. Case would be worse when someone you love leaves hope of living"

There a lot of things we know about our incredible India.

Yes!! Don’t we all know about Taj Mahal, which is one of the wonders of the world. It also stands for the symbol of Love.

Many of us want to spend our vacation at hill-stations like Jammu and Kashmir, Sikkim, Ooty, Nainital and others.

Many photographers click and upload beautiful snaps of Red Fort, Rajasthan’s desert, Mumbai’s tall dome buildings, on various social sites. We all are surrounded by such beauties for which we proudly say, “I am proud to be an Indian.”

Well, are we really proud ???

Think again, are we really proud ???

If your answer is still yes, then I would like to show you some ugly faces of our country. There are a lot many things which will make you realize where our country is leading to…..

Rape:

Screw other countries, let alone take the case of India.

A rape takes place every 20 minutes in India. Statistics show that the number of rapes has risen steadily. But only 10% of all rapes get reported and 24% of these cases see convictions.

Your eyes must have popped up by now. But let me show you some more ugly things.

Rape and sexual assault are crimes that are not defined by time, location, caste or even age. Sex offenders too, cannot be defined as being of a particular ‘type’. Acts of sexual violence are committed even by relatives, friends and colleagues, apart from complete strangers. These acts are often a display of power, authority and domination, and not committed only out of lust. In India, not only a girl of Twenties or Thirties is vulnerable of being raped but even a girl of four year and ninety-three sometimes serves as victim.

Yes, some days before, a girl of four years was raped in the capital city of our country.
Now here arises a question, why someone do such a cruel act ??

I remember, some days back, when I was having a group chat with some of my friends, one of my friend said, no one else but the girl, herself is responsible of being raped.

Do you agree to this ????

If yes, then I would say, friend you are suffering from cheap mentality disorder. Yeah! You heard it right; you are suffering from “CHEAP MENTALITY DISORDER”

I hope, you know what Rape is?? If you don’t let me brush up some of our knowledge:

According to Indian law, a man is said to commit rape if:

  • He applies his mouth to or penetrates the vagina, urethra, anus or mouth of a woman without her consent, using his penis, fingers or an object.
  • He forces her to do the same with him or another person.

The above two points is more than enough to disclose who the culprit could be. It’s the MALE; the MALE of our society are the ones who are solely responsible for such acts. A Girl, a Female, in no way can be proved to be guilty.

Some of you will now say, the dress/the attire, to be precise, shorts wore by girls provoke a man to rape.

If you say so, I will say, you are suffering from “CHEAP MENTALITY DISORDER”

We are in 21st century, where man and woman both are said and treated as equals. So if a male has the permission to wear anything of his choice, then why his female counterpart doesn’t have the same right. Who are we, to decide what she will wear and what she shouldn’t. She has the same rights as of any other male.

In no way, a girl provokes a BOY.

NOTE:

Some things you can say to a survivor of rape :

  • It's not your fault.
  • Don’t question yourself; you did nothing wrong.
  • You are not the reason this happened.
  • You are not alone.
  • This is not the end of your life.

Some things you should not say to a survivor or rape:

  • At least you are alive! You're luckier than many others.
  • Were you a virgin? What about your family's honour?
  • Maybe it wasn’t how you think it was, maybe it wasn't rape.
  • When will you get over this?
  • You should just forgive and forget.
