They Killed Me

Story of My Death:

A thunder like sound broke my sleep. I opened my tiny little eyes in shock. I found nothing. It was almost dark outside, but a little warm too. I have heard many people saying the world outside is full of colors and I'm really excited to see and feel it. But what was the sound that I just heard??
And then, I heard it again. My father was shouting at my mother. Even my mother’s weep was audible to me. With that, even I felt like crying. There were two other persons who were shouting, they must be my grand-parents. My mother was standing there alone and was trying her best to keep her point but none gave a damn..

After a long heated conversation for an hour or so, finally it was decided. My fate was decided. Now it was sure they are going to kill me. I can't see the outer world now. A few days back I felt my heartbeat, little fingers were starting to grow on my hands; they are small now. I wanted to touch my mother’s hand, I want to kiss her but all my dreams will remain unfulfilled.

I still remember that day. 3 months before, I felt I am human. I was quite tiny, may be 10 inches long. Curled up in my mother’s womb I was sleeping in a warm and dark surrounding.

I still remember the day, when my mother proudly informed my father that she is pregnant. He jumped in excitement. He danced like mad. My mother was laughing looking at her husband’s childish behavior. Even my grandparents were happy. They blessed my mother and thanked her for making them so happy.

I still remember the day when I first kicked my mother. I was growing. I was able to turn and toss. When she said about this to my father, he got excited. He brought his ears near my mom’s tummy and asked me to make some noises. I wanted to shout out loud but the strength in me didn’t allow doing so.

Everything was going great till today. But today, when my mother went to hospital for her routing check up, things changed. My father asked the doctor to do an ultrasound test. My mother looked him in bewilderment. She hesitated but when he kept on insisting her, she agreed. During the test I felt as if a type of instrument was inching towards me. Will it kill me?? Will it take me out?? I was confused.

10 minutes I had to wait and the instrument was taken out. I felt relaxed.

Later in the evening, the reports were out. My father furiously entered the bedroom and shouted at my mother. My mother trembled. She cried and even begged my father but he was too stubborn to give an ear. She wanted me but they neither cared for her nor did they care for me.
It was clear, they wanted a boy. I was a girl and in this world, may be being a girl is a disgrace. The decision was made. Today is my last day. Tomorrow they will kill me.

Mom and Dad, I still love you.. Don’t miss me !!

Don't kill a Girl child, they aren't disgrace to you.. They are God's real Angels.....

                                                                           Thank You....

GIRL : A BOON or DISGRACE

" If You Cant Care & Love Her;

             You Don't Deserve Her "

It’s being said that we live in 21stcentury where modernization from the western countries is very much adapted by the Indians. We consider ourselves no less than those living in U.S or U.K

In this present era, Women are considered as equals to Men. In many fields we have also seen, that Women are surpassing and outclassing their counterparts.
But this is only what we see, the truth is very much different, especially in India.
Women were never considered equal to Men, neither in the 19th century, nor in the 20thand not even now (except in some fields).

We all are different in nature and so do we have different opinions. Now I will justify my opinions on this, which will be agreed by many (hope so).

Female Foeticide and Infanticide:

Both, Foeticide and Infanticide are similar type of offence, former is done pre-birth and the latter happens post-birth.

Female Foeticide means aborting a foetus(baby inside a mother’s womb) only because it is a female. This is a major social problem which is still being prevailing in many parts of India; especially in the states of Punjab, Haryana, U.P, Gujarat, Bihar and other North-Indian states.

Pre-Sex determination is regarded as a serious crime but still many do so to check whether the baby going to born in future is a male or female. If it’s being a female, they are killed inside the mother’s womb by certain medical procedures which are totally illegal.

Female Infanticide is a post-birth measure where the baby is killed if it’s a female. Many a times it happens without the approval of the mother.

We say we are living in a modern era, we have to maintain an image, a personality so that we will be respected but such things still being prevailing in different parts.

Men are being considered equal to a Woman but a case of Male-Foeticide or Male-Infanticide has never been heard until now.

 Dowry System:

Dowry system or Dahej(in hindi) system means payment of gifts or cash to bridegroom (or to his family). It includes, cash, jewellery, electrical appliances, furniture and other household items.

It is generally seen, once a baby girl is born in a family, her father tries to save a surplus amount of money for his daughter’s marriage not because he is happy doing it but because he is bound to do it.

Dowry is an evil crime, not only accepting is a crime but even giving is also considered as crime and both are treated equal.

In India, about 20,000 cases of Dowry are being registered every year. And if the offering from the bride’s family doesn’t meet with the groom family’s demand then the girl faces a lot difficulty in her marriage life.

Its only a female who gets torture (killed or being burnt alive) but such things never happens with a male… And we say, Women are treated equally to Men.

Dowry and Foeticide are interlinked with each other. The only reason why the baby girls are killed is, their parents think them as burden or if they are financially poor.

"Be A Man, Say No To Dowry !!! "

 Domestic Violence:

These problems have became quite less in recent days but still the saas-bahus problem is prevailing in some family.

A husband should take care of his wife. I am not saying to ignore your mother completely while doing so but remember that you have responsibility for your wife too.

If your Mother is upset by something your wife said, she should speak about it to your wife directly, and they should clear it out amongst themselves.

If she still wants you to know about it, let her speak to you in front of your wife and not behind her back. Do not react until you have given your wife a chance to present her side of the story.

Never, ever fight with your wife in front of your mother. It will only double her hurt. If you feel your wife was harsh with your mother for whatever reason, speak to her about it in private, and keep an open mind to listen to her point of view.

Some Words For All:

  • Those who think accepting Dowry is a crime should also know that even giving Dowry is a crime. One can give whatever he/she wants to to her daughter but that should not be being pressurized by the groom’s family.
  • If a Groom is a real man, he should oppose any kind of Dowry. Get married only if you can meet her and your own family’s demand by your own and not with the money of in-laws.
  • If you are a Father than why do you need to give Dowry?? You are blessed with a god gifted angel and you should feel proud of it and say no to Dowry.
  • Giving Dowry is quite similar to selling your own daughter to a selfish man (can be stated as DOG here) that don’t even deserve a beautiful angel like your Daughter.
  • Speak to your wife as a friend, without blaming her. She has come to you leaving her home behind holding your hand.
  • Remember, your wife is not a goddess or a saint. Yes, she does have flaws. But it wont be fair to say that your mother is correct and fair everytime. Take decisions after listening to both of them and try to get in their shoes before accusing any.
